Whoopie!

I signed the contract for my cookbook on Friday. Whee!! Now to finish writing it. Details. Details. I celebrated signing the contract by making whoopie pies. My editor co-wrote this book. It’s fab! Yum! Then I filled a tin with them… Happy Mother’s Day, Mom. I made whoopie pies for you (and me).

Ebay’s TOS is a POS

This is a rant but it’s not without merit. As I’ve mentioned, we’re in the midst of packing/moving. With that comes the selling of many items (I’ve also donated a TON of stuff). I’ve been selling on Ebay for more than 12 years. I have 2 accounts. I’ve noticed over the last few months that [...]

I Brake For Yard Sales

It’s no secret that I work in publishing and I eat books. OK, I don’t really eat them but I sure go through books at a fast rate. I get a lot of books about how to restore/hunt vintage items from publishers. Many of them seem uninspired to me and have the same 20 projects [...]

Still Breathing!

Still Breathing!

Still here, still breathing, still overwhelmed, still laughing. We ran up to Boston last week to see some friends, eat some seafood…and pick up Julianna Hatfield‘s guitar (she’s super nice). Also, a lemon tree. My foot has been killing me for weeks so I finally went to the podiatrist. Heel spurs. Ouch! Makes me feel [...]

STUFF.

STUFF.

When we moved into this apartment there was quite a bit of STUFF from the old apartment that we didn’t want to deal with so we put it in the attic. Overtime we added more STUFF to the attic. Last summer I moved out of the country house (rented it to some very nice people!) [...]

Happy Ganache Tart!

Happy Ganache Tart!

Sorry I’ve been so quiet. Sam got very sick when we were in Florida and we had to delay our return. When we got back to NY, he got even sicker. It’s been a rough 2 weeks. Thankfully, he’s very much on the mend. He even got out of the house for a few hours [...]

Sprung.

Sprung.

Miles = free airfare. Yay! We ran away for a few days. Florida. We wanted to look at houses. It’s been an on-going discussion. This is NOT a house. LOL. This is the fancy-pants-super-wonderful hotel we stayed at for the first 4 nights. The plan was to spend a day or two soaking up the sun [...]

Stuff

Stuff

Like a lot people, we have too much stuff. We’re lucky that our apartment has an attic…but that has allowed us to get lazy about parting with stuff. It seems like every few weeks/months another tote bag full of “I don’t want to make a decision about this thing” goes up to the attic. ENOUGH! [...]

A Banner Day

A Banner Day

It’s been said that I’m a bad housekeeper. Who would say such a terrible thing? Well, me. Mopping, vacuuming, and scrubbing is my idea of hell. I will tidy things up all day long, but real cleaning? Yucko! Soo…. Every other week Marie Poppins comes to clean up all our messes. Her name isn’t really [...]

Hot! Hot! Hot!

Hot! Hot! Hot!

Admittedly it’s been a very mild winter. That said, it’s still darn cold! On top of that, we both had the flu a few weeks back and were in desperate need of some hot-hot-hot weather for a few days. The bones, they are getting old… So, we hopped on a plane and headed to Florida. [...]

Little Dutch Girl

Little Dutch Girl

Late yesterday I had a total weather flip out. Cabin fever. Big time. I work from home. Even worse. I suggested we hit a nursery and thankfully the husband went for it. I needed just a few minutes in a warm (and sunny!) space with lots of plants to help clear away some of the [...]
