We had a nice day lazing around the house. Later in the day we headed out to do errands.

The world was a ghost town!

I took a walk through Anthropologie and saw the cutest butter dish - ever.

I decided to move some stuff around in my home office. Low & behold, I found the perfect spot for the sidewalk typewriter stand in my office…so out of the kitchen it rolled. Squeak! Squeak! Squeak! One of my sewing machines is very happily living on the table now.

Now if I could just learn to stop stubbing my toe on the metal base. Ouchie! Have also decided to paint the office. Just need to settle on a color. This could take weeks & months.

This week I’m making a patchwork scarf…

and reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Please buy this book. It’s amazing.

Oh my. Vintage industrial-metal-base-wood-topped typewriter desk!?!?

Opened my backdoor and lobbed it on the backseat. What’s a little dusting of snow among friends?

Also among the pile was a complete set of mid-century wooden serving bowls, serving tongs and salad plates in a big plastic zippered blanket bag. Hello, gorgeous. Will get them cleaned up and photographed asap.

I’m a literary agent – I should put a beautiful vintage typewriter on top of the stand and put it in my office…but I don’t have a vintage typewriter. Go ahead, sigh. Table is all cleaned up and hanging in the kitchen holding the mixer I scored for $30 at the GoodWill and tins for now.

Don’t know how I feel about using the wooden salad set that I picked up. Sure, it was sealed in a bag and I can scrub it like a MoFo…but it still weirds me out a little. I’m being ridiculous! LOL

Do you see that pink tea cup & saucer? The fabulous Laura brought that specifically for me. It’s very similar to the one I bought on our trip to Belgium last fall. Yay!

Had to take pics of the tea cups with the shoes. It’s like a cluster of happy gold.

I was psyched to score some fabric paint too! I’ve been on a bit of a stamping-homemade-ribbon bender.

Wheeee! Next time I’ll tea stain the cotton.

As threatened, I can’t stop taking pictures of those gold shoes. Sigh.

I did contact 2 custom footwear places. OMG. So expensive. I’m sure their craftsmanship is worth every penny, but I can’t personally justify $850+ for a pair of shoes. I just can’t. There are certain things that I put price limits on. Shoes, I just can’t pay that much for. It’s rare that I spend more than $80 for a pair and more often than not, less than $35. DSW is my enabler of choice. I can’t imagine spending that much on shoes. It boggles me. I’d be terrified to wear them.

Perhaps they will show up somewhere in my size, one day.

Today. Today. Today. The kitties and I took the day off. By that I mean I stayed in my jammies, had 3 conference calls, slipcovered an ottoman, baked 3 baguettes, and ordered a new monitor for my computer.

Have I mentioned that I don’t really watch tv?

The ottoman? Thanks for asking. Remember the silly monkey curtains I scored for $25? The curtains came with a bedskirt. The bedskirt, is now an ottoman slipcover. A little cutting, a little sewing, a little seam-ripping, a little more sewing = a lot more monkeys.

Penny helped.

Hall’s Autumn Leaf coffee pot and water pitcher was just sitting on the shelf. I bought both of them for her for eleven clams total.

Later, Mom gave pony rides to her tranny cat Silver (or Sylvia depending on his/her outfit).

Today we wandered around and hit some thrift shops. Love thrifting in Pennsylvania – such a different mix of goods and less competition.

The orange flowers in the header? Obnoxious sheet. I can never pass up crazy sheets. Reminds me of my childhood. I love to take these to the beach instead of a blanket.

The big score? Tiffany candlesticks for $2.99!

How did I know they were Tiffany when I glanced at the sea of candlesticks? I already own the same pair! A gift from the Fiance years ago. I picked them up, confirmed the mark and slammed them in my cart. Score!

At another store I fell deeply, madly, forever in love with a pair of shoes – That Do Not Fit! Way too small for my size 9.5/10 dogs. I couldn’t not buy them.

Seriously, I want to put them on a shelf in my office (with the matching purse) and just gaze at them. Then, I want to find someone to recreate them for me in my size.

These shoes are magic. Expect to see lots of pictures of them in the future. I can’t wait to take pics of them in green grass!

I finally wrestled the recipe out of my Mom.

No clue where she got this recipe but she’s been baking them for 40+ years.

Check out all the coffee & molasses stains on the recipe. That’s love.

I made a batch today. Heaven!

Don’t be scared of the volume of cookies this recipe makes. They freeze really well!

* A little scoop of vanilla ice cream squeezed between 2 of these is extra special.

*Given that there’s a cup of molasses in there, pretty good at making irregular things…regular. Just sayin’.
