I’m growing lots more gray hairs. Eek!

I don’t think I’ll ever dye my hair. No big political/lifestyle statement behind that…I’m just kind of lazy about my hair.

It’s been an intense couple of weeks between the homeless kitten, no heat, searching for an apartment in NYC, doing my taxes, etc. I am zonked. Z.O.N.K.E.D. I feel like I could sleep for a week – but my mind just won’t shut off. I get in bed and toss and turn and think of 5 million other things that I need/want to do. Oh boy. I think I might need someone to drop me off on an island with no wifi, iphone or work for at least 1 day. Fruity drinks would be a plus.

Speaking of fruity drinks, as crazy as this week has been, we did manage to run out one night for a date. It was so nice I nearly cried. Stress. Oh stress…

In other news, Penny has been practicing posing for her graduation photo.

Last but not least, I kinda-sorta wrote a book and a Publisher kinda-sorta bought it this week.

It will be in stores Fall 2011.

Wasn’t Penny, but there was a sweet lost kitten running around.

I scooped up the little bugger before she ran into the street.

Now, we need to find a home for this snow kitten.

HOMELESS SNOW KITTEN!

I contacted SEVEN shelters. All full. All refused.

This kitten is about 5 months old, has a collar, no tag. Can not locate the owners (I assure you, I’ve tried). Assume she was tossed out on the street. She is super sweet & full of cuddles. Litter box champ! Purrs like a chainsaw!

Did I mention that this kitten has some mega connections in the Literary world?

Do you see that pink tea cup & saucer? The fabulous Laura brought that specifically for me. It’s very similar to the one I bought on our trip to Belgium last fall. Yay!

Had to take pics of the tea cups with the shoes. It’s like a cluster of happy gold.

I was psyched to score some fabric paint too! I’ve been on a bit of a stamping-homemade-ribbon bender.

Wheeee! Next time I’ll tea stain the cotton.

I had the chocolate croissant and a macaron. We bought a baguette for later. Yum!

Next time, I’m all about the choux chantilly…or the napoleon…or…well. You know. Another chocolate croissant.

For lunch I’m going to use their baguette to try and recreate the sandwich I had at Le Grenier de Felix in Paris. Roast chicken, slices of warm hard boiled egg, mayo…on a baguette. Heavenly.

Penny too. She especially loves the LL Bean totes I have. The minute one of the bags is empty – or slight empty – she hops in. LL Bean should just stop manufacturing & marketing pet beds. What discriminating cats really want is a good tote.

Earlier today I was sitting at my desk trying to get a little work down when I noticed the cats going batschidt. What were they spazzing out over? The light reflecting off my watch making little fairies on the wall. Had to grab the camera. Indulge me.

Joy.

Park workers were raking them up and bagging them. Enormous bags of walnuts sitting on the sidewalk.

Made me giggle.

This fence always makes me smile. Love it.

So that was my walk this morning. Not a bad way to start the day!

I know I’ve been a crap-Blogger lately, have been engrossed in some big work projects that are eating my brain (in a good way!). I did buy a new mini laptop this week and have set out to make a carrying case for it. Will post pics this weekend. Other plans this weekend include sorting 2009 receipts, filling out 1099 forms and cleaning the litter box. Good times!

What are you up to?

Yesterday I ducked into The Container Store and spent a small fortune on canvas baskets. Tonight I started sorting all my random crap precious items. I started with sewing notions & thread.

I was in a bit of a grumpy mood (long day at work) but instantly perked up when I started playing with the thread. There’s one spool in there from Coats & Clark that makes me especially happy. It’s a dark maroon and it’s on a smooth wooden spool. Bliss. Wish all my thread was on wooden spools.

Moving along…next up was a ribbon & trim basket. Oodles of goodness in there!

I also started a basket of gifts. Pretty stationery, books, etc. I’ve picked up with the intention of gifting. Tucker decided he needed to give me a hand and he hopped into the cabinet. Both cats love that china cabinet. I have to make sure to securely close the doors or they get in there and knock everything around for sport.

It was around this time that I started filling 2 baskets with “random items”. Essentially things I felt like I couldn’t part with but didn’t want to look at. WTF?

I need to have a tag sale!

To be honest, that kicked off 4Q 2009. With all the mini pie madness, mini banana bread and the chicken pot pies (not a dessert but totally delish!) it clearly has to continue into the new year. I think 2010 is going to be the year of cooking large pots of an item and freezing them in mini for easy future use. I’ve had the thought a few times that I’d like to invite a few girlfriends over to drink wine, bullschidt, and make pans of lasagna, chicken pot pie, etc. in quantity so we can all stock our freezers. Am I nesting or what? Winter does this to me.

Finally did make those mini canning jar pies a few weeks ago. I made blueberry pies. [iphone pic]

OMG. So awesome. Can’t wait to make more.

I have a bag of apples on the table, it could happen! Today I made mini loaves of banana bread. Is there a better smell in the whole world? I think not. Banana bread freezes really well, in case you were wondering.

Last week I found 2 small bundt pans at a flea market. Now I can make Riggy cake for office peeps and one for home. Every time I made coffee cake in 2009 the group that didn’t get any bitched & whined. These 2 smallish pans will make everyone happy!

That 9042 foot roll of bakery twine? Gift from the Fiance. Oh My. I’m gonna have twine for years (and years) to come.

I picked up a pumpkin pie pocket mold and pie cutter forms at Williams Sonoma (outlet) the other day. Madness. Total mini madness.

I don’t like cherry pie, but those were the only pie cutters they had. I’ll use the leaf one mostly. Anyone have and cutters they want to trade for the cherry form? I could just be belligerent/delusional and tell people they are blueberries not cherries.

So what are my resolutions? The usual (more exercise!) and a few more…

1. Bake more bread. So much bread that I can justify buying a baguette basket. Hah!

2. Fix the lighting in our kitchen. Too dark.

3. Throw a booze & crafty crap party. Hoping to do this in early January. I have a lot of craft stuff that I don’t want anymore. Assume others are in the same boat. Why not meet up at a bar for beers and swap out fabric, trim, etc? If you’re in the hood and interested, let me know. I think I have about 6 super cool chicks who are on board now.

4. Organize! My home office is out of control. After I get my taxes done I’m hoping to add another computer (dork much?) to my lair and a wireless laser printer. Am contemplating hiring a designer to help me with this. Yikes.

5. Be more patient with my camera. Take more funky pics with my iphone like these:
