Penny & Tucker learned the basics for sewing a simple slipcover today. First, they had me prime and then paint (metallic silver!) the legs of this boring Queen Anne bench. You may remember this bench from the auction out on Long Island. Don’t expect pictures if you click that link, lots got lost when I moved the blog. Sigh.

As seen above, Tucker began the process of measuring out the fabric and determining where the hem should be. He was quite picky. He yanked on that fabric till he got it right where he wanted it.
Later, Penny suggested they climb under the fabric and make a tent. They were under there for a good 20 minutes playing. Pure kitty joy!

I was going to show you how nice the bench looks in the bedroom since it matches the headboard and curtains but umm…the bedroom is a mess. It’s Saturday, cut me some slack.

Browsing in a (Boca!) bookstore I once discovered a book called “Why Cats Paint” and had a great time reading aloud to my artist spouse. If you don’t have it already, get it at once.

Do you know Gerald Shapiro? His story “The Twelve Plagues” in “Bad Jews and Other Stories” is a favorite of mine. Why Cats Paint reminded me of it.

You are going to make me learn to sew, aren’t you? Every time I see one of these posts it makes me yearn for a sewing machine.

Great job on the bench! Your kitties are quite crafty! My kitties…not so much! All they want to do is wreck havoc and run amuck thru the house!

You are so lucky to have extra paws to help you with your projects. My dog Blitzkrieg insists on helping in a supervisory role only.

You and the kitties make it look so easy.

Nice. What brand of paint is that? It’s so nice and smooth.
