Big Ideas

Completion.

A friend on Facebook asked me if I ever finish my projects. I was sort of like “WTF?” for a second, till I realized that I’m perhaps not the best at showing the end result of my many adventures. I love talking about new projects and discussing them while they are in process and the minute they are done…I move on. Like the bouef bourguinon. I made it yesterday but we had “the end result” today. It wouldn’t have occured to me to blog about the finished dish complete with potatoes and french bread. By the way…IT WAS HEAVEN!

So here’s a quick tally of recent projects…

The Dorothy Draper Dresser – Is 98% done. I just need to touch up the paint on the very bottom/foot section. I recently had glass cut for the top and it looks fabulous. Why no pics? In the midst of moving things around and I’m too lazy to set dress things for blog photos. It’s true.

The Nightstand – The nightstand is finished. I’m not thrilled with how it came out (stupid lacquer-spray-paint that crackled and then was dull rather than lacquer-ish in many areas). Still, it looks better than when I started. I stenciled a bird onto the top and also had glass cut for it. My sewing machine is presently living on it. No pics, things are a bit messy over there.

The Amy Butler fabric pillows – I made one of them quite awhile ago and then started the second one. I finished the second one today. Here’s a picture:

The Metal Tole Tray Memo Board – I tried using 3 types of adhesive on the back of the tray but none would adhere. I finally ended up stringing a ribbon through it. I also altered 3 pairs of vintage clip on earrings to make fancy magnets. Penny helped with this project.

Current unfinished projects…

The yard coffee table. I haven’t found a topper I like yet. No rush on this so I haven’t been spazzing out over it.

The bird chandelier. Let’s just say, the guys who work in the electrical section of the 2 “big box home improvement stores” haven’t been very helpful. I’m hoping to go with my brother-in-law one day. Electrical stuff scares me so I don’t want to screw it up.

The blue clip earrings that I want to make into posts. I haven’t done this yet. I think I’m going to bring them to a jeweler and have them properly done. I’m afraid I will mess them up and I love-love-love them!

Feedsack pillow cases. Other than washing and ironing them, I haven’t gotten far…yet!

In other news, I had several hours of playtime today with Big Bird. Big Bird is Penny & Tucker’s favorite toy.
