Flea Market Finds

Paris Day One. Belgium Day Two.

Ouch! My Feet. On our first day in Paris we wandered around overcome with jet lag giggling our heads off and trying to decide how we felt. Laura and I finally decided we felt ‘clammy’. That settled, we headed off to pay our respects to Notre Dame, eat a crepe and drink lots of tea. Did I mention the 3 hour nap? Around 3PM Laura and I headed back to the apartment we’ve rented and passed out like drunken sailors.

Pics of Notre Dame…

Chandelier being fixed/cleaned in Notre Dame. Enormous!

This morning (Friday) we headed to Belgium. Yikes, that train ride was expensive! Totally worth the fist of cash. Here’s Laura passed out on the train on the way there. Her conversational skills when she’s passed out kinda suck. LOL!

Since Laura was out, I had to chat with the other person in our compartment. Unfortunately she did not speak very much English. Just a lot of “meow, meow, meow bonjour meow”.

We had a great time in Belgium. Chocolate! Pissing Boy Statue! Beer! Flea Market! I may have killed my feet. So many cobblestones streets…so pretty, but so ouchy on the feet. Check out this amazing square. We were transfixed. I have a video of the square that I’ll try to remember to post next week. Believe Karl Marx wrote his manifesto at one of the cafes in this square. I was ready to write a manifesto of my own…about chocolate.

Pop into a tavern for a cold one? Yes, please. Vedett Beer. Two thumbs up. Yum!

The pissing boy statue. So many souvenirs with his likeness. Dizzying really.

We had a few minutes of giggling panic when we thought we had missed the last train back to Paris. Frankly a night spent in Brussels is not the worst idea. Would love to go back!

Oh I am jealous! 4 years of HS French and 2 at College, and I have yet to visit a place where I’ll use it. Of course, I’m more comfortable reading it than speaking it.

    I should have gone. Darn…

The image of the chandelier being cleaned is amazing. Looks like a blast. Our pissing boy statue (Kansas City’s not the Blandings’) does not need to use his hand and seems somehow, better.

May I just say I’m hella, hella jealous?

Oh, it all looks wonderful, clammy or not. And Mrs. Blandings is right – KC’s own pissing boy statue is much more handless & efficient. Have a great time!
