Culinary Mayhem

My Very First Apple Pie.

I know, what a dork! I live in New York, land of the most awesome apples – and it wasn’t till 2010 (aka the year I turn 40 but start lying and saying 30) that I made an apple pie.

Madness.

Complete.

Madness!

There was no canned apple gunk junk. Those are hardcore NYS apples my friend!

Suddenly…there were 8 lil apple pies before my very eyes. Quick! Quick! Into the freezer…

A day later, popped one in the oven. Holy Gawd.

Heaven!

Did I mention that I don’t really like apple pie? Well, that’s changed. I puffy heart (my) apple pie.

I’ve never seen pie made that way. Love the individual servings! I don’t like apple pie either, but I love making it!

We live in NY so we can BUY the best apple pie, not so we can MAKE it, silly dork.

But it’s always nice when friends make apple pie to share! :)

Oh man! I love homemade apple pie. Just don’t ruin it by putting cheese on top of it. I will never understand such madness.

Love your single serving version. I’ll chime in with Lisa – recipe please!

those are freakin’ cute. you put them in the freezer raw? do they pop out of the jars, or do you eat them from the jar?

Should you keep making apple pie and run into slightly dry apples, a light dousing of apple cider (preferably the kind with alcohol) before you seal the top crust provides needed moisture without leading to gloppiness.

You can also safely and happily add raisins, craisins, and walnuts to your apple pies.

What kinds of jars go from freezer to oven? Are these canning jars that are pictured here?

I love individual serving size & cooking in bulk!

I’m also curious about how you freeze and bake them individually. Do you need special jars?

Fed my DH and rugrats mini apple pies last night. Big hit — and good gifting!
For those who are curious, here’s the website which I originally linked through to for here. Thanks again!

I like apple pie. I work near Jean Martha. This sounds like a match to me, Gene Rayburn!

    The concept is here:

I used recipes from Joy of Baking for the applie pie (crust and inner yum).

So proud of you – and they’re very cute. Next up, a double-crust apple pie. Start your rolling pins!
