My Mom makes the best molasses cookies. The best. How good? My nephew Josh insisted that he did not want cake or cupcakes or anything other than Grandma’s molasses cookies for every elementary school birthday party. That good. They’re not very cookie-like to be honest, they are cakey and muffin toppy.
I finally wrestled the recipe out of my Mom.
No clue where she got this recipe but she’s been baking them for 40+ years.
Check out all the coffee & molasses stains on the recipe. That’s love.

I made a batch today. Heaven!

Don’t be scared of the volume of cookies this recipe makes. They freeze really well!
* A little scoop of vanilla ice cream squeezed between 2 of these is extra special.
*Given that there’s a cup of molasses in there, pretty good at making irregular things…regular. Just sayin’.

I’m feeling cakey and muffin toppy myself.
Seriously, these sound delish! Don’t you love how old timey recipes have, like, three steps and you just dump everything together? And they always taste like slices of heaven? I made oatmeal cookies last week that involved macerating, freezing, slicing and dicing.
