I sold my beloved matching chesterfield sofas 2 weeks ago.
I anticipate that wherever we move to, the apartment will be smaller so it was time for them to move on.
I’ve been hunting for a vintage sofa to reupholster.
The hunting has NOT been good.
Anyway, I happened upon a very funny advertisement on Craigslist last night.
Two girls had moved to Brooklyn and the couch wouldn’t fit through their door. They took this hysterical picture and posted it on Craigslist. It’s a pretty sofa. It will certainly keep the husband happy till I someday/somewhere find another cheapo chesterfield…and it was only $75. And it’s pretty. And it matches all my other madness! And why the hell not?
Many text messages and several calls to “man with a van” types…Dave fit the bill. Super nice guy!
The ladies very graciously stayed with the couch so it wouldn’t be messed with, stolen, or peed on by errant dogs. They also ordered pizza while they waited for my delivery guy and sent fun pictures via text message which cracked me up.
Sam and I once locked ourselves out of our apartment and while we waited for the locksmith…we ordered pizza to the car.
We had to call a handyman to come over today to help us take the door & couch apart to get the enormous beast into the apartment – the couch sat on the patio overnight wrapped in plastic and THANK DOG it didn’t rain.
I love NYC. It’s colorful and silly and couches can be magical. If anyone ever tells you that NYC isn’t neighborly or wonderful, you go right ahead and smack them.
